Minutes of meeting of Widecombe in the Moor Parish Council on January 7th, 2020

Present - Tim Hassell, Amanda Routley, Yvette Elliot, Steve Morley, Mark Whiteside, Claire Partridge
Apologies - Geoffrey Fenton, Simon Booty, Daf Edwards
1. Members of the public were asked to address the meeting. Sandra and Cameron Zab explained their objections to the application as they live next door to the property seeking planning permission. They stated that they had lodged a letter of objection with DNPA and in their view there were problems with planning breaches. They also explained that the planning enforcement department of DNPA had attended site and been in discussions with applicant and themselves.
2. Declarations of Interest – there were none.
3. A thorough discussion took place between members of the PC regarding our view on the application. It was unanimously agreed to make the following comment to DNPA.
“Widecombe-in-the-Moor Parish Council has no objections to the planning application 0575/19 & 0576/19 as long as DNPA is satisfied that it fits with the local plan and is in accordance with its planning policies.
The Parish Council would like to see a condition along the lines of that in the previous permission “To ensure that the development is only used for purposes ancillary to the existing dwelling, to prevent the creation of an unjustified separate unit of accommodation in the countryside and to protect the character and appearance of this area of the Dartmoor National Park, in accordance with policies COR1, COR4, COR15, DMD1b, DMD3 and DMD25 of the Dartmoor National Park Development Plan.”
In addition to this the Parish Council understands that there may be a number of enforcement points to be addressed at the property and, if this is the case, would encourage DNPA to see that these are addressed before proceeding with any future planning applications – or perhaps prior to this one being granted if that is the correct procedure in cases such as this”
4. Meeting concluded at 7.35pm
