These controls are to provide alternative means of accessing the information on this page. Two main facilities are provided: adjusting the text size and listening to the text on the page.
1) Adjusting Text Size:

Minutes of the AGM held at Church House, Widecombe on Thursday 1st May 2008
PRESENT: Mr.Newbolt-Young (Chairman), Mr.Booty, Mr.Morley, Mr.Nosworthy, Mr.Seale, Mr. Smerdon, Mr.Tame & Mrs. Tempest.
APOLOGIES: Cllr. Eveleigh
IN ATTENDANCE: TDC Chief Executive – Mrs. Nicola Bulbeck, County Cllr. Sally Morgan, three members of the public and the Clerk Mr.P.Roper. Tel. 01548 854478.
The Chairman welcomed our two guests and members of the public.
VILLAGE WALK ABOUT AT 7.00 pm
The Chairman escorted the Chief Executive and Members around the village to identify items in need of repair or maintenance by either TDC or DNPA. Mrs. Bulbeck noted those items that were the responsibility of TDC and the Clerk those items that need to be reported to DNPA.
PUBLIC COMMENT/POLICING MATTERS No police report.
(a) A member of the public made comment about the bad way in which the repairs to the highways are managed stating that the system used is very wasteful of human resources and not efficient.
Election of Officers: Chairman – Mr.Newbolt-Young proposed by Mrs Tempest and seconded by Mr.Nosworthy. Carried unanimously. Vice Chairman – Mr. Tame proposed by Mr. Booty and seconded by Mr. Smerdon.

2947 MINUTES: The minutes of the meeting held on Thursday 3rd April 2008 were corrected, approved and signed by the chairman as being an accurate account of the meeting.
2948 MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES
(a) TETRA Appeal: the Clerk reported that he has checked that the Council’s representation has been received by the Inspectorate dealing with the Appeal – this has been confirmed. The Chairman stated that he has sent a copy of this statement to DNPA Principal Lawyer – Christopher Walledge, as he had heard that Mr Walledge had not received any notification from the Inspectorate.
(b) Hastoe Housing Association: the Council was informed that work on the two new Affordable Houses at Brook Lane Cottages has begun.
(c) Tithe Map: the Clerk has received from Devon Record Office the CD Rom’s that contain the digital version of the said map. Cllr. Morley agreed to take the CD’s and, after reviewing them, make recommendations to the next meeting.
(d) Raymond Amusements Insurance Cover for Fair Day: copy received.
2949 PLANNING
(a) Weekly Lists placed for circulation.
(b) Grant of Planning for: Single storey extension at Hannaford Cottage, BT duct installation at Leigh Torr Farm.
(c) Proposed Tree Works on Trees on the Village Green: DNPA has not protected the trees with a Preservation Order because they are already protected being in a Conservation Area.
(d) 0275/08 Change of roof material on shippon at Ley Farm: Cllr. Tame withdrew because of his interest. The Council decision was to support the application.
(e) Refusal of Planning for application 0139/08 for Re-alignment of track at West Shallowford Farm.
(f) Appeal by Airwave: Land opposite entrance to Bowden Barn: Public Inquiry date 08.07.08 at DNPA, Parke, Bovey Tracey – Mr. Newtbolt-Young to attend and speak on behalf of the Parish Council.
2950 CORRESPONDENCE placed for circulation:
(a) TDC: Agendas, Minutes, refuse collection, BT payphones consultation, change of address, TALC, Strategic Partnership Newsletter.
(b) DNPA: Minutes and Agendas, LDF amended Adopted Version available on web-site, Forum

(f) Various other Magazines/Documents plus above all placed for circulation to Councillors.
2951 HIGHWAYS
(a) Maintenance: The usual map showing pot holes and blocked gullies was completed. Mr. Smerdon stated that he had not been contacted once by DCC Highways Department during the past year. The Clerk will again send in his name, address and telephone number to DCC as was the case after last year’s AGM.

2953 MATTER AT DISCRETION OF THE CHAIRMAN
(a) The Chairman informed the meeting that Mr. Beard has started to assemble a museum in the church building

There being no further business the Chairman closed the meeting at 9.00 pm.

Members of the public and press are welcome to attend any Parish Council Meeting and make comment at the start of the meeting which begins at 7.30 pm.
