Ashmoor Ladies U12/13s Girls Football Team
Achievements Showertech Under 12 Girls Cup Final
A love of football brought this talented and dedicated team together three years ago, when most of them were at Widecombe County Primary School.
Success came early when the ladies won the trable, remaining undefeated, in 2004.
In 2005, strengthened by new players from Ashburton and South Brent, the team were put into the Showertech league playing under the name of the Newton Town Yellows. They missed out on being league champions by just one point but did go on to win the Showertech Cup Final (see below).
The girl's success has followed them to South Dartmoor Community College where they play in the U12s.
In May this year (2006), they won the FA County Final and were crowned County Champions.
It has been a great first season for the team and I would like thank the girls for all the hard work and the parents for their help over the past year.
Thanks also to Bradleys Estate Agents for its sponsorship and support.
The girls now have a new kit and a new name: The Ashmoor Ladies FC.

Showertech Under 12 Girls Cup Final
This was always going to be a nail-biting match and it lived up to that. With Newton Town playing downhill with the wind in the first half, within the first ten minutes Newton came close to taking the lead with a long ball from Lucy Dixon which Sian Chapman got on to and the Totnes 'keeper made a great save.
Both of Newton Town's forwards, Emily Hannaford and Sian Chapman worked hard, but the Totnes 'keeper was on form. At the back along with Lucy Dixon, there was Bliss geden and Libby Boston and all three worked tirelessly to keep Totnes at bay.
15 minutes before half time, Newton broke through the defence, a ball won back by Libby Boston then passed on to Emily Hannaford who laid it on for Sian Chapman making no mistake this time. The pressure was now on, and Totnes came back and hit the bar, then a good ball from Lucy Dixon put Sian Chapman through again to score.
Just before half time, Newton had to make a sub as Emily Hannaford came off injured and Rebecca Low went on to take her place. Totnes put pressure on, making newton Town's 'keeper Hannah Barber Cheverall pull a great save just minutes from helf time.
Second half again saw both teams attacking with Newton and Totnes defence working at full stretch. With newton Town playing uphill and against the wind, their midfield came into action, after having a quiet first half, Jessie Boston (captain) taking on players and passing the ball upfield. Another sub was made and Rebecca Low came off and Megan Geddes came on to help in defence, then ten minutes from time, Totnes scored making it 2-1. This put Totnes up a gear, but Newton Town's defence worked hard to keep the ball out. Three minutes from time a ball from the midfield put Newton's forward Sian Chapman away to score her hat-trick, making the final score 3-1 to Newton Town.
The team is coached by Peter Boston.
The team also had great success last year, enjoying an undefeated season. Please click on the picture for a larger view. | This is the certificate that the team won after the 2005 season |
