These controls are to provide alternative means of accessing the information on this page. Two main facilities are provided: adjusting the text size and listening to the text on the page.
1) Adjusting Text Size:
You can increase the text size by clicking on 'Larger' (access key '+'), and reduce it by clicking on 'Smaller' (access key '-'). You can reset the size back to its original value by clicking on 'Reset' (access key 'j')
2) Listening to the Text

Minutes of the meeting held at Church House, Widecombe on Thursday 5th June 2008
PRESENT: Mr.Newbolt-Young (Chairman), Mr.Booty, Mr. Eveleigh, Mr.Nosworthy, Mr.Seale, Mr. Smerdon, Mr.Tame & Mrs. Tempest
APOLOGIES: Mr.Morley and County Cllr. Sally Morgan

PUBLIC COMMENT/POLICING MATTERS No police report.
(a) A report was given of the road works that are taking place at Lady Meadow. DCC have agreed to certain improvements and the residents have formed an Association to work together on future maintenance issues.
(b) An explanation was given regarding the amendments agreed with DNPA for development at Lower Blackaton.
(c) Cattle on the Green – now removed. Discussions took place about responsibilities of livestock owners and the safety of the public – especially those with dogs. Members of the public were encouraged to report quickly if cattle arrive on the Green. Cattle should be identified from their ear tags.
2956 MINUTES: The minutes of the meeting held on Thursday 1st May 2008 were corrected, approved and signed by the chairman as being an accurate account of the meeting.
2957 MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES
(a) Use of Village Green/Square: three requests have been received for the use of either the Green or the Square. All were agreed with suggestions that donations be made to the Parish Church.
(b) Parish Tithe Map CD Rom: reports were given from Roger Claxton and Stephen Morley which made recommendations. It was agreed that, before and decisions were made about distribution, the chairman would speak to Anthony Beard about the Apportionment Register.
(c) Preparation for the visit of the DNPA Chief Executive’s attendance at the next meeting. It was agreed that the Clerk should invite Chris France as well because many of the questions for the visit related to Planning issues.
(d) Closure of Rural Post Offices: the Chairman gave details of the public meeting that he has arranged. He requested that as many people as possible attend.
(e) Annual Parish Walk-about: DNPA has agreed to attend to all four requests made by the Council.

(a) Weekly Lists placed for circulation.
(b) Grant of Planning for: Ley Farm – change of roof material
(c) Certificate of Lawful Use for Langworthy Farm: erection of front extension
(d) 0328/08 Listed Refurbishment of barn at Lower Blackaton - Council decision to Support.
(e) 0357/08 Replacement of roof and gable ends at barn at Cornford Farm. Ditto
(f) 0358/08 Erection of agricultural dwelling at Bittleford Farm. Ditto

2960 HIGHWAYS
(a) Correspondence from Holne P.C. and Mr. Dentith DCC regarding proposed improvements to Newbridge.
(b) Maintenance Report from Allan Cash DCC in response to last months list of requests.
2961 DELEGATES REPORTS
(a) Congratulations were expressed to Peter Boston for being awarded the Devon Sports Personality of the Year and also thanks for the work he has done for the school.
2962 MATTER AT DISCRETION OF THE CHAIRMAN
(a) Thanks were expressed to Robert and Fiona Wallace for agreeing to run the the Post Office outreach service for the community.
(b) It is likely that the Tetra Mast O2 Airwaves appeal will now be held in October but no reason has been given for the postponement.
(c) Matters relating to the Council’s planning for Fair Day were discussed: the Clerk will persue these items as usual.
2963 FINANCE
(a) Balance Carried forward deposit account £4,709.02

(c) Current Account Balance at the beginning of the meeting £754.31
(d) Pre School & Toddler Group: NES Arnold goods £63.45
There being no further business the Chairman closed the meeting at 9.15 pm.
THE NEXT MEETING OF THE COUNCIL WILL BE HELD ON THURSDAY 3rd July 2008
