These controls are to provide alternative means of accessing the information on this page. Two main facilities are provided: adjusting the text size and listening to the text on the page.
1) Adjusting Text Size:
You can increase the text size by clicking on 'Larger' (access key '+'), and reduce it by clicking on 'Smaller' (access key '-'). You can reset the size back to its original value by clicking on 'Reset' (access key 'j')
2) Listening to the Text

PUBLIC COMMENT/POLICING MATTERS
(a) The Clerk read a letter from the MP Mr. Richard Younger-Ross regarding the powers of the police, under local by-laws, to cope with public disturbances.
2964 MINUTES: The minutes of the meeting held on Thursday 5th June 2008 were corrected, approved and signed by the chairman as being an accurate account of the meeting.
The Chairman welcomed and introduced our guests from DNPA. Members and the public were then invited to ask questions. There followed a well directed exchange of interesting issues which covered topic of: planning for conversions of buildings, litter on the Moor, surface water problems at Lady Meadow, control of inconsiderate parking, feeding of ponies, differing views on planning decisions, inconsistencies of same, problems of resubmissions and amendments, speed restrictions on roads, hedge removal at Parke entrance, future planning development areas (LDF), Tetra mast appeal, wind farms and small scale energy schemes etc.
2965 MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES
(a) Parish Tithe Map CD Rom: Steven Morley distributed copies of parts of the tithe map to illustrate the quality of the print-offs from the CD. He said the programme offered no problems and gave a good quality of image. He had been in touch with another authority to inquire on the issues of selling CD’s to help cover the costs of digitalisation. He felt the exercise was money well spent. Roger Claxton has photographed all 72 pages of the Apportionment Register and is in the process of burning same onto another CD which will, in future, accompany the map CD ROM. Anthony Beard pointed out that Peter Hurst’s previous work of transcribing the whole register had been of tremendous importance. Thanks was expressed to all those who have spent so much time and effort to make a success of this project.
(b) Rural Skip Service: posters reminding the public of this service were distributed for publication. Date 12th July at Main Car/Coach Park from 10.00 – 16.00 hrs.
(c) Future of Rural Post Offices: the Chairman explained the current situation pointing out the success of the well attended Public Meeting and the views expressed in support by DNPA. A final decision on the future provision for Widecombe village will be known very shortly.
(d) Fair Day 9th September 2008 Planning: the Clerk distributed estimates for the Fair Day expenditure in order to assist in decision making. Ken Purchase, now in charge of the local Town Criers was introduced and invited to speak. After discussion it was decided to:
(i) Invite 10 Devon Town Criers to do a Shout twice during the day (11am & pm) to pay their travelling (£5) and provide, either a £25 first prize and £20 for the best dressed couple or a trophy. Mr. Nosworthy offered to find an existing trophy that would be suitable, also to provide parking space at North Hall. (Mr. Constance to be asked)
(ii) Ask the Fair Committee to share the income from the Coach Charges (£15)
2966 PLANNING
(a) Weekly Lists placed for circulation.
(b) Grant of Planning for: Refurbishment of barn at Lower Blackaton, Erection of two-storey farm dwelling at Great Cator Farm.
(c) Amendments to roof structure at Corndonford Farm.
(d) New equipment to Transmitting Station at Blackslade Farm.

(a) The Chairman reminded members of the Opening of the Haytor Information Centre on Monday 7th July at 1.45 pm.
