Matters Arising
The first batch of 600 documents from the Parish Chest will be sent to the Devon Records Office, following completion of their digitising. These are mainly indentures and examinations. The second batch will consist of Churchwardens’ and Overseers’ Accounts. The bingo session run by John and Judy Southcombe raised £84.50 and thanks were expressed to them.  The Soup & Music evening in aid of the Church House was a great success. Thanks were expressed to Marcia Babington for organising the trip to Tuckers Hall in Exeter on 17th October. Tuckers Hall has been owned by the Guild of Weavers, Tuckers and Shearmen since 1471. The joint trip with the Ladies’ Social Group to Westonbirt Arboretum was cancelled due to insufficient numbers. Sharing trips with other organisations is being investigated.
Fund Raising
For the past year, eight members of the Group have been working on a Poppy Quilt and other assorted items of handicraft. The quilt is the major draw prize for the draw on Widecombe Fair day 2015 and it was on display at the meeting. Congratulations were expressed to the team of quilters and a vote of thanks was expressed to Suzanne and Brian Hutchins, the team leaders.
History Group Activities
The World War I Exhibition will be on show again at the Church House over the Armistice Weekend, 8th and 9th November, from 10.00am to 4.00pm. Volunteers were sought to help set it up on the Friday afternoon and remove it on Sunday and also to act as Stewards. There will be a box for donations in aid of the History Group.  John Lowe is leading a walk to the Memorial on Hameldown on Wednesday, 26th November, starting from Natsworthy Gate at 12.30pm.
Mary Pascoe and her team have started work on the History Group Christmas Tree for the competition in Widecombe Church. The theme is ‘Christmas Around the World’ and the team are depicting ‘Japan’.
Geoffrey Fenton offered to lead a Group walk in the spring, looking at local wild flowers.

History As It Happens
New clock faces have been installed in the Church Tower – as yet the clock is not working.
